What's the difference between the older HP3 and K-Tec Champ Blenders and the new HP3A Total Blender?
The difference between the new HP3A model and the old HP3, Champ and Total Blender is significant. First the face plate has been changed. Also, instead of looking at a programming chart that users may or may not be able to find after they have purchased their blender, they don’t need anything other than a finger to push the menu button, then select the blend cycle they want. No more 3P2, 1P3, etc. The 25 blend cycles are able to be accessed simply by scrolling through them and choosing the one you want when it shows up on the LED display.

So, the user interface is menu driven from the blender versus having to look at the user manual like before. The 4 buttons to the left are presets like on a car radio. They will have 4 cycles which are the default cycles from the factory, but you can change them to your personal favorites as easily as you change the presets on you car radio. Find the cycle you want, hold down one of the preset buttons until it beeps and it’s set. It still has a Pulse button so you can do short bursts of speed, and it has manual speed settings so you can ramp up or down from Speed 1 to 10 and let it run a 50 second cycle before it automatically shuts off.
The older Blender was a bit confusing to use when it came to actually leveraging the different programs. Most people just pushed the different buttons until they found the one that worked best. This new interface is much more intuitive and friendly and allows your to use the blenders full capabilities without having to look at the programming guide.
