We build each Challenger carbon water filter to order. We can use many
different types of carbon depending on the water problem. Most types of
carbon do an excellent job of removing chlorine. However, check with your
water department. If your city is using Chloramines (a mixture of Chlorine
and ammonia) it is much more difficult to remove. There is a new type of
carbon on the market called catalytic carbon. We are among a very small
percentage of companies to offer it. It is very expensive, however, it
removes the chloramines close to 100%. Regular carbon removes only
approximately 50%. If you need the catalytic carbon there is and extra
charge of $400 added to the price of the system.
